TATEANDALE self-cleaning strainers are designed with performance being the utmost priority. Offering high straining ratios from traditionally accepted basket designs, these strainers reduce operating costs due to longer cycle periods when used in the intermittant/automatic backwash mode. The basket design should be the major concern when evaluating selfcleaning strainers. Quite often artificially high straining ratios are created by unusual methods such as "pleated" elements. While these elements may technically achieve a higher amount of open area by folding the perforated plate into an accordion shape, the resultant valleys will clog with debris twice as fast. TATE ANDALE basket elements have legitimate open area,whether using highly durable wedgewire or perforated plate. Self-Cleaning Strainers are recommended for systems where completely automatic back-flushing is required, and where flow may not be interrupted. Primarily designed for applications where large or undetermined amounts of debris make the use of a duplex strainer impractical.
